I said God of War was good for what it was, not htat it was stellar. You can have good acting in a ridiculous space. By the same token, the acting in Gears of War is quite good. Eternal Darkness's voice work is a lot better than you're giving it credit for. Paulsen's job as Pious Augustus was fantastic. Don't ignore KotOR2. It's still probably the best-acted and best-written script in te medium. But Mass Effect 2 is lent a certain gravitas by one of the main characters being played by Martin Sheen. Still, don't skip the first, even if the voicework isn't as good. |
I ignored KotOr2 because aside from seeing fantastic reviews on the web and a few gameplay videos here and there I have no experience with it... It is not something i've had the pleasure of experiencing so I cannot talk about it.
But maybe we have come to a point where we are seeing voice acting as an opinionated space. You thought Pious' voice was good, I thought it was frankly the worst voice work in Eternal Darkness...
However - I am excited for Other M. Very, I like the simplicity afforded by the control scheme, and I (must be one of the few) always really wanted to know more about her, besides all the 100% completions of lore in the Prime Trilogy, the exposition in Fusion and the Manga. She is, after all, my favorite heroine in the videogame space - and I am glad her personality isn't a kick ass now take names later...
