Why do so many people buy iPads? They are really fun to play with, but they cost a minimum of £429, I could buy a PS3 and 4 games for that... It is even more than a PS3 was at launch and yet they are still sold out

I am not getting this. What has a game console to do with iPad?

iPad is used for gaming, but it is just a price comparison with something which was criticised for being overpriced at launch

It's all a matter of what people value. Turns out that they value a portable media center with a large screen, excellent internet functionality, and an intuitive interface more than they value a stationary media center with incredible processing power, expensive and immersive games, and an interface optimised for gaming but poorly suited for anything else.

Probably the biggest value difference is that it is much easier to extend the iPad's use cases with software than it is to extend the PS3. Consoles need to get a few killer apps that appeal to millions of people to drive the platform. Ease of development and distribution on iOS devices allows for hundreds of killer apps that appeal to thousands of people.

A stationary PC and a laptop are much better suited for internet use and media than an iPad as well, better sound and picture output, much larger screens, much faster internal components and internet connections, a lot more stable, a whole lot more storage room and all that for roughly the same price.

Personally, I cannot fathom what possible use anyone can find of an iPad if they own a smartphone, an MP3 player and a laptop already (and those who buy the iPad generally do own these things), it just seems redundant.
