So...I think the Japanese 3DS release date is coming on July 29 with Nintendo's earnings report.
Reasons
1) DS probably won't do more than 24-25m in FY 3/2010. To hit 5-6m 3DS has to launch somewhere in 2010...and that somewhere is likely to be Japan.
2) With a 2010 launch in Japan Nintendo has limited venues at which to announce a release data and build awareness. E3 has passed. Earnings results for July-Sept don't arrive until early November. TGS is in the fall. Gamescom is Europe/ western focused. That leaves the July 29 earnings release.
3) Nintendo said more info about launch timing and 3DS pricing would come after E3 2010.
4) DS models had 10-20% price cuts in Japan recently.
People are difficult to govern because they have too much knowledge.
