But on a serious note, it was no less than double the length of Chains of Olympus. I suppose everything else is subjective, so we'll leave that comparison at that.
As for why Kratos is pissed before part 2, the Gods refused to rid him of his nightmares. That was explained in about 2 minutes in GoW2's opening cutscene. I suppose there could be more to it, but mid-quels don't have much room for storyline. Chains of Olympus didn't really have much of a story either- it was a cash-in on God of War II's success and popularity, so it seems pretty likely that Ghost of Sparta will be the same for God of War III, especially if Ready at Dawn did describe it as you said.
Don't think I didn't like Chains of Olympus. I liked it very much. It was just nowhere near the quality of the game that it blatantly ripped off: like Dante's Inferno, but not quite as dire, and more forgivable because it's in the same series.
