Draw distance seems good at first glance, but look at the fences from the left (past 2 minutes or so) that just pop up (probably game pushes Wii system resources hard since it is a grand scale). Noticeable jaggies at cliffs, especially when you go under that mini tunnel. Load time to dungeon was fast (which is a plus), but shadows remind me of first gen PS2 era which is a little dissapointing. Lighting was meh. Battle system reminds me of WKC. Something makes me believe that even if it turns out like WKC, it will end up scoring higher because it's a Wii game (granted WKC's localization in the US was mediocre at best, voice acting was slightly better than RE1 on PS1 lol "loook it's blooooood!"). I am looking more forward to Last Story at this point. |
Honestly other than being an action RPG I don't see a lot of connections to WKC which I thought was meh.
And this game has pretty damn amazing design, despite the pop in, it's sort of obvious they do that because of how big the game is, it also helps with the seamless loading (until you change sections), the shadows and lower res character models I sort of forgive since few games this gen (or last for that matter) have Xenoblades open enviornments that are meant to be explored (this goes for all consoles), yeah there are the open world games but most of them have nothing important till you hit certain points but I've seen videos of people playing xenoblade and then jump off a cliff and find an area with big bad enemies triple their level... and then kill them :P while still in a early section of the game, so you can go back later and explore that area as well.
I dunno I just really don't feel WKC and Xenoblade has already REALLY impressed me, its went from catching my eye to being a day 1 buy now.
