No, people thought the "new DQ announcement" for the spring would be DQX's formal unveiling, but it was this instead. DQX is official for Wii though and hasn't been canceled.
SE said they have another DQ announcement coming later this summer, which many also speculate will be DQX's coming out party, but I think that's going to be something else too (DQ7 remake?).
