I know that Amazon isn't really indicative over sales trends, but I have a theory as to why PS3 will outpace it:
Most GTA players are probably current or former PS2 owners. They are looking for a game that says "I have to buy console A/console B for that game" and GTA might be it. HOWEVER, being PS2 owners, they also like games like MGS, Gran Turismo, and FF......so when they're preordering, they can either choose A) Get the PS3 version, and save money by having a PS3 when MGS, FF, etc comes out, or they can choose B) Get the 360 version, and then when those PS games come out they they want, they'll have to shell out another $400 just to play them.
So if I'm correct, then what sounds better, $400 now for PS3, plus $60 for GTA, and then $60 for each other PS3 exclusive that those gamers want to play or $349 now plus $60 for GTA......then when those other PS3 games come out, they would have to spend another $400, then $60 for each game?
Currently playing:
Unreal Tournament 3, Warhawk, Rock Band, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy XII, DMC2, then 3, and Radiata Stories
