Software sales up 12% and hardware sales 14% so far in 2010 in the UK

Though the UK High Street continues to struggle against what to date is proving an even more challenging sales year than 2009, Sony has pointed out that the PS3 is proving the star performer by posting strong year-on-year increases

To date in calendar 2010 sales of PS3 hardware are up 14 per cent in the UK. PS3 software sales are up 12 per cent.

“With the hardware we’ve had the benefit of a redesign and price drop but with software what we’re seeing is, in comparison to other platforms, that the participation of our hardware base in the software market is very high,” SCE UK sales director Mark Howsen told MCV.

“Even on some multiplatform game we’re doing the same numbers as some other platforms who have reportedly got higher install bases.”

MCV’s full interview with Mark Howsen will be appearing exclusively online later this week

IMO, the UK needs a second pricecut to £200, £50 off was never gonna do anything spectacular
