No, being realistic. EDIT: As example, after the "Sega Saturn", Sega's next console was called "Dreamcast" and not "Sega Dreamcast". After the failures of CD, 32X, Saturn, in the eyes of most customers the name Sega was worth nothing anymore. 300th post!!! |
Wow, wow, wow. Not true.
There was the Sega Master System, Sega Genesis, Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast (yes, Sega Dreamcast) just like there was Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Nintendo 64, Nintendo Gamecube, Sony Playstation, Sony Playstation 2, Sony Playstation 3, Microsoft Xbox, Microsoft Xbox 360, Atari 2600, Atari 5200, Atari 7800, Atari Jaguar, et cetera.
Every single console's name has the brand name at the beginning, and the console's name at the end. It is just how it is.
On the Microsoft Xbox, you don't see the word "Microsoft" before the name. The full name of a console is different than what may say on the actual system. The Atari 2600 says "Atari Video Computer System" on the console, yet it is still called the Atari 2600. There is no connection.
It is still called the Sega Dreamcast. Sorry. And why would they take out the word "Sega?" Was it not made by Sega? It was. And with Playstation, you recalled removing the "console" name, yet with the Dreancast, you recalled removing the "brand" name. No connection here.
Never-the-less, Sony is dead. If Sony does make a new console, it would be called Playstation 4. I kind of like the way number it like that. Makes it nice and simple. Nintendo's console names are kind of all over the place:
Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Nintendo 64 (surprisingly not Nintendo 64 Entertainment System), Nintendo Gamecube (surprisingly not Nintendo Gamecube Entertainment System), and Nintendo Wii (surprisingly not Nintendo Wii Entertainment System).
Yeah, video game names are messed up.
