Of the main characters:

1) Scott Shelby. Definitely the most depth of any of the characters. Great voice acting. Believable character, with weaknesses.

2) Ethan Mars. I lost a little sympathy just because he's so STUPID (if you're having blackouts, you should probably let your wife take care of your son...), but still, he's a brave and determined character.

3) Norman Jayden. His struggle against Carter Blake makes him seem like a hero, but his voice...oh god, his voice.

4) Lauren Winter. Again, REALLY odd voice. Went from American to Mexican to French to I-don't-know-what. I like the way she brings out a different side of Scott.

5) Madison Paige. She made NO SENSE as a character. Her only two roles were to take care of Ethan and get ogled by various people. I couldn't care less what happened to her, to be honest, she was just SO ANNOYING. Part of the reason I disliked The Taxidermist (the Taxidermist himself being probably the worst character in the entire Heavy Rain universe).

Definitely, Winter >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Paige as a character. If she'd had a half decent voice, she'd be above Ethan.
