Sometimes that's not even the case. I've played plenty of games that still have the words 'color' and 'honor' in the subtitles. 

Nintendo has 3 divisions - Japan, Europe, Americas. Each department translates the game in all appropriate languages, then they ship the copies. They have to translate it in English then send all the copies to Australia.

Or they just don't care?
