Yeah, I'm gonna echo this sentiment. WTF. Half-life and Halo are completely different styles in almost every way. One is a scientist battling through an oppressive post apocolyptic alien force as part of a small resistance. The other is a military commander in a large army battling against an alien race in a full scale planetary war. Both are action, but one has horror elements. One has puzzles; the other is nothing but mindless shooting. The only thing they really have in comon is aliens... which isn't saying much. |
No I'm meaning the basic elements ofthe gamplay. Its easy to make a map stick 1000 enemies and tell the player run through it killing everything and have a few secret thngs along the way, thats just basic FPS style.
Yes I'm meaning partially on the headcrab/flood thing but thats an old and obviosu argument that doesnt need to be echoed.
Let me take Halo 3 vs Half-Life 2: Episode 1 for a second. I would take Episode 2 but Alyx's AI greatly improved.
The whole two character team up. Master Chief and the Arbitor is shockingly similar to Gordon Freeman and Alyx's ream up.
The gravity hammer thing.. umm... took the basic consept of the gravity gun, removed the attraction ability. made it have to connect with something to launch the object with a massive amount of force.
There are so many similarities that its not funny. SMG vs SMG. The guns are 95% identical. You would think that Bungie would modify the damn thing a bit more.
