I don't really consider this an RPG, more of an action adventure since the title focuses on adventuring and gathering object X + Y + Z in order to do objective A for example; also, the attacking and such is action based rather than 'role played' like in other RPGs such as Dragon Quest.
That said, I am ~20 hours in, and I love the game. I have killed only two large monsters; Qurupecos and Great Jaggi (like 15-20 of them now), but I have a lot of fun doing it. It is more fun to play online than offline, but I enjoy playing offline quite a bit.
Failure of quests isn't really that bad, you get to keep all of the items you gained.
Anyway, this game inspired me to watch Jurassic Park 1 and 3 recently; I would do 2, the cast is good in 2 (with Goldblum) but the story was not as thrilling as 1 or 3 (which are really both the same story, 3 is more fun since it has better dinos and jumps right into things where 1 takes a good 45 minutes before they get down and dirty; 3 wouldn't be as rewarding without the background of 1 though).
