Of course they did, but they had also plenty of other games to look forward, most importantly Twilight Princess. After that there were two other announced games left to take hype away from Galaxy. Corruption and Brawl. Some others anticipated Fire Emblem too, although that's a niche title, but it's among the best games (if not the best) you can get in the genre of strategy-RPGs. This just covers confirmed franchises at that point in time. You see, Nintendo has many big franchises and their fans can't agree on which one is the best, there are just too many different tastes. If you ask someone what his favorite Microsoft 1st party game is, you most likely get "Halo" as answer from 90+ %. The hype for Nintendo games is spread among many different games all the time, while it was focused on a single game in Microsoft's case. |
I understand the appeal of Nintendo and its games. I had them all up until the Gamecube. Thats why I understand it very well. It has the strength of 20+ years of delelping IPs to appeal to everyone while Microsoft has had 6. Thats why I excuse it for its strenghth of mostly appealing to one demographic of which I am a part of. Microsoft is trying to develop others. Thats why they put tons of money into Jrpg develpment, and kid friendly games like Viva Pinata. I really dont like how everyone puts down the 360 cause its not everything all at once. It is mostly Wii owners that do it.
