more like couldn't fit into the game, you know that a game gets kinda tedius/not fun after a while if it's too long
i remember thinking "this game is really long for a platformer", any longer and i think many people (more like most) might not have bothered to finish the game through, and even if they did they might not have had much fun doing so if the game was too long imo
i think what they meant was the Yoshi addition and all the other stuff from the SMG2 trailers. if they had included all that it would have been overkill for SMG1 imo
