So would you guys say that the big differences between them are that one's big on JRPGs and the other is big on shooters?

Firstly, the only reason the one of them is "big on JRPG's" is because one has a greater presence in Japan. Even then, things really aren't as "big" as you make them out to be.

Secondly, the only reason one of them is "big on shooters" is because one has a greater presence in the US. Even then, things really aren't as "big" as you make them out to be.

Having a bigger userbase in a region can't be used for the userbase having different buying habits.

In the case of JRPG's - I point you towards Star Ocean 4, where the 360 version has blown away the PS3 version.

In the case of shooters - I point you to "Others" (Where PS3 and 360 are currently within 20k units of eachother) sales of Modern Warfare 2 between the PS3 and the 360.

So we can't use different region figures

but we can use different region figures

Now I'm confused

I just showed you sales of the biggest game on both consoles in a region where both of those consoles are pretty much identical.

The sales of the game were also pretty much even, proving that the userbase of one of them isn't "big on shooters" while the other isn't, the buying habits are pretty much the same on both userbases.

The only reason the 360 sells more "shooter" games than the PS3 is because of the larger userbase in America. That doesn't mean though that the buying habits of the 2 userbases are different like you are saying. Just because one console has more users than another, doesn't mean the buying habits are different when it comes to the games.
