Actually we do both. Sales are not always a determiner of the quality of a game though sometimes it can be. And even if a game sells poorly doesn't mean it's not fun. Many times quite the opposite. Well sometimes quite the opposite. Some games are clunkers who rightfully don't sell much. But we watch salescharts to figure out the future of the industry and to see how much support our investment in these gamesystems will get in the days to come. When things sell well they will get more support and that means more variety and breadth of games TO play. The more game systems sell, the more players there are to play WITH and the more games sell, the more players to play WITH those games. More gamesales equals more support from gamemakers. More gamesales equals more longevity for the system you've put 100's & 1000's of dollars (euros, yen, etc.) into making your investment worth the long haul. Sales aren't just a trifle. These things are important. But even so it should never prevent you from enjoying playing the games you like best-sellers or not. Same with music. Some people only like local bands instead of the cats on Top 40 radio. They don't have to be the biggest star for you to like them. All sales mean is that more people get to witness the performance.
