You know, right now (we don't know a whole lot about it) to me it just seems like an upgraded DS model, despite what Nintendo says. I hope to see more that proves me wrong.
But as of right now, like Rainbow Yoshi said, it seems similar to the difference between the Gameboy Color and the Gameboy Advance.

The reason why I did not say the Gameboy Color was because it released slightly before the Gameboy Advance.

Yes but there is only a very small difference between the Gameboy and the Gameboy Color: better graphics and color.

The Gameboy Color and the Gameboy Advance have more differences. Better graphics, different holding-orientation (horizontal), L and R buttons, and wireless support (wireless link cables that came with Pokemon: FireRed and LeafGreen)

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.
