What the hell has Microsoft done that makes the Xbox 360 up so much YOY in America when they were coming off a massive price drop last year but not this year?

Probably because the Elite was $399 in early 2009, while now it's $299 and comes with Forza 3 and Halo 3: ODST.

They also had a fun promotion last week where you got a $50 gift card at GameStop if you bought an Elite, which is now happening this week over at Best Buy.
