That's not strictly true. 3D Mario/Metroid and other 'core' games are usually reviewed higher than they should be. Wii games that might be considered 'casua'l or 'party' games (arcade and local multiplayer as we used to call them) are reviewed lower. This is especially true if it's a Nintendo game.

The two best local multiplayer games this generation ever, Mario Kart Wii and NSMB Wii are considered party or casual games by the metaluvvies.
