I both stream over the network from my W7 machine or just copy them directly over and play them. I also have a few Emus running (NES/SNES) etc, and use this to surf the net, which is a HELL OF A LOT better than the built in browser. So what do you all use it for? I will end up just buying a new PS3 slim. The cost of getting something else setup as a media server is higher than another 299 system. This does not mean I am very happy about this. |
you know, you could put together a HTPC for ~$300 (just built one myself) that has more HDD space, uses less energy, and is quiter along with other benefits like being more flexible and easy to repair (rather than a $150 charge if the PS3 breaks down). The only thing it wouldn't do is play Blu-rays.
Not saying I support Sony's decision, but I think you'd be better off building a HTPC.
