So they make up crap about their games "not selling" -despite the fact that if you look at the third parties' financial statements, in most cases the Wii is the only console that's making them any money at all- and toss out halfhearted efforts. |
is it, is it really?
you have to question that, let's look at team size's that focus on motion controll's for game software development.
do you think the majority of 3rd party development houses have or HAD motion control's development team's set up when the Wii was first released?
now add in the fact:
Game developers are notoriously finicky when it comes to trying out new interfaces.
now compare that to Nintendo!
add to the fact that the Wii was the only system with Robust motion controll's when it was released, than add in the fact that Nintendo software get's the lion's share for promotion of the software. when the Wii was first released, as almost alway's Nintendo promote's 1st party over 3rd party offering's.
than add in the fact that what you spend on return is likely to get you profit, but no noticed for any award's which mean's more investment into your studio.
It's all fine and dandy for Nintendo, but 3rd Party's not so good.
