I am talking about 3D two-player Mario platformers, not 2D. Did Super Mario 64 DS have this two player feature? |
I meant that in your original post, you mentioned that "we had them for 2D, not 3D". I had forgotten about the Mario vs. Luigi mode in NSMB, and the other main 2D games in the series only have alternating multiplayer, not simultaneous competitive multiplayer.
Super Mario 64 DS actually has a four-player mode in the style that you describe, which makes use of re-purposed maps from the main game in which players compete to obtain stars the quickest. I only played it briefly (and traded the game in later on, due to the lack of analog control totally ruining the game), but it was kind of fun.
