One thing I have been saying for awhile, and it should be interesting to see what happens, is that 2008 really is HD-DVD's opportunity to make up for lost ground. Through 2008 HD-DVD should have a dramatic price advantage and if they can convince enough people who already own a HDTV, or are buying a $500 to $1000 HDTV, to pick up a $100 to $200 HD-DVD player they could potentially tie Blu-Ray or take the lead in sales. Even if HD-DVD can't tie or lead, if the total sales stay in the 60-40 range HD-DVD will not die and we will be heading towards a dual format world; most of us won't care which format a movie is released upon because we will buy a $99 dual format player. |
60:40 = tdual format? are you insane? the company that controls 51% of the market is leader.
Also Blu-ray payers are getting a price cut too. The Samsung one is now $299
