There is no way in hell that this game is anywhere near average. This is the best game available for the Wii, including first party titles. In terms of visuals it's right up there with Super Mario Galaxy and the swordplay, whilst not being exactly 1:1, is also excellent. Wii Sports Resort Swordplay is all well and good, but the combos, finishing moves and Kusagari special powers along with seamless transition between using the sword and the guns is streets ahead of Wii Sports Resort.

The visuals are top-notch, nice particle effects, great quality rim lighting, the best art direction we've seen for a Wii title so far, the level design is excellent, the music and sound are excellent and you get 15-16 hours of gameplay for your money (just a quick guesstimate as I've yet to finish it) and once you've finished it you'll want to play it again on the next difficulty up (assuming you weren't mental enough to try Ninja difficulty on your first playthrough!). And all this at 60fps.

Ubisoft have done exactly what they intended to do - they've produced a first party quality title.
