Forums - Nintendo Discussion - I have Red Steel 2!

Played it for a couple of hours. I'm quite liking it so far. The game looks amazing and the controls are flawless.

If you have any questions about the game, don't be afraid to ask! From what I've played so far I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who was hyped for the first Red Steel, but thinks it failed to deliver.

I never knew it was out yet, where are you?

P.S I'm too lazy to click your profile to find out,

The game's not for sale yet, my girlfriend received a copy from Ubisoft because she writes reviews for a Dutch gaming site.

What's the exploration like in the game? Like a Metroid Prime-lite? or there's just like a bit of exploration?

"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."

"The so-called "hardcore" gamer is a marketing brainwashed, innovation shunting, self-righteous idiot who pays videogame makers far too much money than what is delivered."

Not at all like Metroid Prime.

The game has one big overworld, just like Metroid, but when you advance, the door back is locked (at least for now, I should be able to return later). There are some optional places you can go to, but there isn't much to do except for collecting ammo, gold and secret tokens. You can get quests in your Dojo, and those optional places can become locations for your active quest.

It's kind of hard to explain, but while you can explore and backtrak a little, it isn't as fruitful as in the Metroid series.

Still, the paths are not entirely linear, so you never feel too constrained during gameplay. There are also sidequests occasionally.

Gametrailers said that the enemy AI is not very bright, and that it's easy to perform sword combos because of their lack of responsiveness. What do you think about that now that you've played it?

Wow, I totally forgot this was coming out soon. And I still need to pick up Rune Factory and Endless Ocean 2, plus Fragile is out like next week.

Looks like I gotta rumage through some more of my old games and sell them to help sustain the upcoming barrage on my wallet.

Would you recommend it if I was hyped for the first Red Steel and thought it DID deliver? Shocking I know.

cool game looks SWEET!
