So much inaccuracies in this thread.

Before the PS3 can be selling at a faster rate the PS3 needs to outsell the 360 for a month.

PS3 doesnt stand a chance to take the lead over the 360 in 2008. 360 will have an 8 million+ lead at the end of 2007. PS3 will need to beat the 360 by 700,000 per month on average to overtake the 360 by the end of 2008. Not likely.

MS plans to be profitable during Fiscal Year 2008 which started on July 1st. The 1st quarter ended September 30th. That quarter was in the black and certainly the quarter with the highest software sales will easily be in the black. It is likly that the 360 is profitable going forward. Also 360 hardware is profitable. What killed it earlier this year were repair costs. Since MS has since prepaid for any additional RROD costs the repairs wont drag on profits. Reason MS isnt talking about being in the black this quarter is two fold. The quarter isnt over and earnings report isnt until late January. They will be profitable and also have the room to signifigantly drop 360 price right before GTA IV comes out. After all in over 2 years they have only dropped the price of the 360 on $20, $50 and $30 dollars on the Arcade, Premium and Elite models.

3rd party support is secured. Since the 360 will lead at the end of 2008 and reality 2009 as well. 3rd parties love the sales on 360 and not until the PS3 has a signifigant lead on the 360 will they switch. I doubt this ever happens.

In many ways Sony has let the 360 sit pretty with thier mistakes. It is certain MS planned to drop the price of the 360 sooner and more signifigant then they have. They can thank Sony poor PS3 execution for allowing MS to wait.
