I haven't had a problem with my Wii, but I've had some problem with old gamecube controller analog sticks. Unfortunately moving parts in any system are a weak link and analog sticks are notorious for being the first thing to go.
On a related note, my DS lite is starting to show signs of wear, the d-pad is more difficult to use, and the touchscreen won't calibrate properly. Unfortunately, electronics aren't perfect. Just be thankful a new nunchuck only costs $30 ;)
