I absolutely hate realistic racers and sports games.
I also hate what JRPGs have become. It seems they just throw in more and more quirky gameplay systems to make the games more and more unnecessary complex. What was wrong with the phantasy star IV system of basic combat and leveling? And the stories just gets more and more over the top. It was okay in small doses, but now it's just getting ridiculous.
I don't hate fighters like Street fighter and Virtua Fighter, but they don't appeal to me in any way. Since it's a genre that favours competitive play, fighters have my respect. Except the Tekken series. too many bad childhood memories with that one.
I also hate MMORPGs. Not because they play badly or because they have bad concepts, but because the concept is so f*king good and yet there are always something that dissapoints me with them. The role playing is never emphasized. For example, you don't get to chose stuff like a background story or a birthplace or a star sign or age for your character. And the games are not designed so that you walk around exploring the world with your friends trying to find cool stuff or hidden places but instead it's all about leveling. Not leveling up so that you can defeat that monster that keeps you from exploring an area and perhaps find a cool unique item, but leveling up so that you can kill the monster and then level up and kill bigger monsters until you go to PVP or just keep grinding just to waste your life. The rewards could be so much more interresting and the actual role playing could be so much better.
I LOVE ICELAND!
