Well, this is a thread about HW, and not this generation's HW, but the PS3, the "fail console" compared to previous "successfull consoles".

Software doesn't factor into success/failure of a console?  I'd think it'd factor more to be honest?

This isn't derailment, it's enriching the conversation.  You basically can't judge the real success/failure of a game platform without looking at software.
