It's much cheaper than I expected. Check the Japanese pricing.. the cost increase is much higher than they're charging. Their profits with XL will be smaller than with the regular DSi.
In a way this kind of reminds me of the Lite which in America didn't get a price increase, they sort of took the revenue decrease in to keep lower prices in America, which they didn't do in other places. The Lite was about $20 more expensive than the regular DS in other regions.
Plus the XL is shiny, and the Lite also introduced shininess to the DS. I kid you not but the gloss is one of the reasons why I really want one. I only have a Lite and XL to me is like plus beauty and everything I want.
