Yeah, it's going to be a clear "success story", but I doubt it's as big as some are expecting/hoping. I mean when you get down to it, MH really is a hard sell. It's as brutally difficult as Demon's Souls, as esoterically complex as Shiren the Wanderer, except it's also almost 100% skill/pattern based (while DS/Shiren have a HUGE luck component), with a totally manual camera and no lock on. Plus it's online focused on the console with probably the least online focus this gen. I'm also unsure of targeting the "Zelda crowd" will work, what with an actual new Zelda coming later in the year and the games really being almost nothing alike.
On the other hand, Nintendo's pushing it, and they could sell icecubes to eskimos. it's probably okay to stay a bit more upbeat about it's chances, and I'd say my predictions are probably more on the conservative end (at least for the US). I think lifetime worldwide, MH3 will probably crawl past 3m, which will make it Capcom's best selling (console) SKU this gen.
Personally, the title I'm more curious about is DQIX. I bet they add online play and trading for the west, and with Nintendo behind it it may even be a US million seller (Europe's guaranteed, DQVIII shipped 1.2m there already).
