Not at all.
They were much better years in PC gaming. This year is still rather mediocre for PC gaming.

How so? This year PC has more big exclusives than any other year I can remember.

Big is relative and I would say there are only 5 or maybe 6 games on that list which really deserve that title.

2004 for example was lightyears ahead. Same goes for 2002, 2000, 1999, 1998 and probably quite a few more too.

2004's Best exclusives:

  1. Half-Life 2
  2. UT2004
  3. Painkiller
  4. Far Cry
  5. World of Warcraft
  6. Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
  7. City of Heroes
  8. Rome: Total War
  9. Dawn of War
  10. The Sims 2
  11. Football Manager 2005
  12. Myst IV
  13. Syberia II

Amazing year no doubt, but look closer. It doesn't have the same amount of great exclusives as 2010 look like it will have.

don't forget:

Counter-Strike Source
Doom 3
Sid Meier's Pirates
Battlefield Vietnam
Call of Duty United Offense

Deus Ex 3 certainly won't make it in 2010 and probably a few other games as well *looking at MMOs*

I see only 1 or maybe 2 games that could compete with HL2, UT2004, WoW and Sims 2 this year

Pirates and Doom 3 were multiplat. 2010 Games that compete with HL2, UT2004 WoW and Sims 2:

  1. Civilization V
  2. Command & Conquer 4
  3. Guild Wars 2
  4. Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty
  5. Star Wars: The Old Republic
  6. World of Warcraft: Cataclysm

That looks like a pretty big list, don't you?

Doom 3 and Pirates were exclusive at that point of time (for about 1 year each). I wouldn't be surprised if C&C 4 and/or The Witcher 2 (or maybe some other games) will come to consoles in 2011, so Doom and Pirates should definitely count.

Star Wars The Old Republic is scheduled for Spring 2011

C&C 4 isn't in the same league as the games I mentioned and you seriously don't want to compare an expansion to the original game....
