I had a very similar reaction to Mario 64, but the thing I have to put as my fondest moment in video games was the ending of FF X because I really really expected a happy ending after the whole love story thing and all that, but then the way it ended I loved how it was the complete opposite of a love story happy ending kinda thing... You know even some movies don't dare venture outside of happy endings, and for a video game to do that has just got to be respected.
