Quality and marketability. You can build success out of those two, and that's the key. Wii development seems to be a one-or-the-other approach, of making quality games that are extraordinarily niche, or making marketable games that have shit production values.

Which I completely agree with, Quality is not the sole cause, and I would say it isn't even the main cause.  The main reason one games seels more than another is marketability, advertising, and just how well established the series is.  Just because a game isn't marketable and therefore doesn't sell doesn't mean that it also is of poor quality.
