Well for all you non "PC" gamers I will explain how much of a pain in the butt it is to add people on STEAM. Which has become the inspiration for the console online models. Steam allows you to change your "Name" to anything you want. However, they will only link 1 name to your account. If that name is already in use you require a different name. When your account is created you can put in a second name which is how you will then be seen by everyone on Steam. If you give people this new name to add to their friends list. It won't find you in it's system. You have to either use your original name or your e-mail address to add friends which is a huge joke. I just had an awful time over the holidays trying to add my brother to the system. So be careful what you wish for. In comparison the Wii system code is a hell of a lot easier to add. Everyone has a phone number that's unique. The wii system code is very much like a phone number. I prefer to use a # over a login any day. I just don't want to add a new number for every game.

How useless are you?

I'll make this incredibly simple for you. When you are logged in to your steam account, click the "Community" tab. Directly below the URL bar, click "View my profile". Copy that URL and give it to your brother, friend or whoever. Conversely, to add someone, navigate to their Steam ID page and under "Actions" hit "Add to Friends List". You're done. If they've already added you, it's very simply to add, ignore or block them from your home page, under the friends tab.

Here's mine for example: http://steamcommunity.com/id/kitcho1/

You don't even need to have steam installed on the computer you're on to get that link. I'm in osx right now and simply logged in to steampowered.com using firefox and that ID is the first thing you see. Extremely easy to do. If you've played with someone recently, you can also add them by accessing your recently played with list.

Just so we're perfectly clear, Steam is much better than Wii online for a myriad of reasons.
