I don't think it's sold out - but I do think a lot of stores lack the space to house the games. Plus, it's the holidays and spending $170 on a game AND having to spend loot on presents, gift cards, etc is hard on folks. However, I do see the game having some legs ... it's really going to stay steady, IMHO.
