nordlead said: you guys are horrible. I've posted a few times on how this website started. Here is the short version. ioi (brett) owns the website, and he is the original creator. He wanted a better way to track numbers and started tracking numbers for NeoGaf. There was a fallout because they didn't consider his numbers "official" (or in other words, he wasn't a big company guessing numbers, he was just a single guy guessing numbers ) Anyways, after that, ioi started VGCharts.org, which then existed for a while, and then ioi decided he wanted a .com name, but someone had already bought vgcharts.com, so he switched it to vgchartz.com. since then the website has grown. VGChartz does actually receive sales numbers from a small percentage of the worlds retail market and estimates sales just like NPD/Mediacreate/Famitsu/GFK. VGChartz is very accurate with the hardware numbers, a little less so with the software. Either way, VGChartz is free for all of its data compared to the other companies which only release top 10/50 with or without numbers. As for the 10k viewers, I can't remember when that was. I'm fairly sure it was before this years E3 when one of our articles hit the front page of Digg. |
Would that be the article stating WiiSports becoming the highest selling game of all time?
iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.
