xbox live sold me, and the college environment. i moved from ps1 to xbox/ps2, to 360, ill eventually get a ps3 but there is no reason for me too so far, and the removal of PS2 BC kept me form upgrading this fall when my last ps2 died.

on the college enviroment more 360 games had lan party options and halo ce wa s huge on friday nights, so when i wasnt working , dating, or in class i was with friends gaming. then live came out and mech assult and ghost recon were fantastic, then halo 2. it was just what you did with friends, then your friends moved to the 360 so you did.

as for loyalty to a defective console im on purchased PS2 number 4 now, ive spent 606 on ps2 consoles, (dead drives on two the thrid the controllor ports stopped working, and number 4 just never booted up again one day) at least with my 299 360 the two repairs have been covered, though eventually ill replace this one with an hdmi unit

also lost 2 SNES, 1 NES, PS1 replaced but no cost if i remeber right, my n64 never died nor did my game boy, or my psp.

#updated# i will note there has been a lack of Koei  games the got me to buy my first PS2, VC, and MAG have my eye and someday i hope to own both, but Koei has a few old stratagy series that have not made the jump, and i would have paid 500 plus the cost of the game for them, they are a killer app even if terrible games for me
