Also, why would Versus "pave the way" for KH3? Versus and KH are completely different games in focus, story, themes, etc. and isn't run by Disney in the background.

If it does well enough, I just suspect Nomura would use it to push KH3 as a PS3 game to his bosses and Disney since it's so similar in terms of game design.  I also think it's being used to delay KH3, given it's being developed by the core KH team.

I agree with you that this isn't "KH3" though.  I suspect it'll be another FFXIII spinoff, another KH spinoff or a TWEWY sequel.

That doesn't really make sense as they'll be selling Versus to the same fanbase that bought FF XIII anyway. KH isn't a series that's bought mainly by FF fans.

but the ps3 now have the highest RPG user base, KH at core is RPG, and ps3 fanbase it's also a movie junkie, recent LBP DLC have disney in it.

it may not be bought by mainly FF fans but its bought by RPG fans, KH always releases first in japan and actually have FF roots, like spells and backgrounds.

By the time KH3 releases (if it even does this gen, and not another KH for compensation) it'll release after DQ X and when the Wii has a huge RPG fanbase (and the DQ and FF fanbases do cross over) so that's a moot point. KH is mainly bought by Disney fans, we already went over this in another thread with you and the fact that Disney decided to put a huge project like Epic Mickey on the Wii exclusively just proves that the main purchasing fanbase on the Wii is bigger especially in America where the game sells the most.

Epic Mickey was planned for Wii way before it took off big. I posted a link and Spector's words earlier in this thread.

"Well, think about it. Would you really want to tackle convincing Halo or Grand Theft Auto players that they want to be Mickey Mouse?"

"Would you really want to do that? In terms of finding a congenial audience, let's go for a platform that's known for Mario and Link and now Sonic."

"Honestly, with the unit sales on the hardware, it was kind of a lucky happenstance. We made the call to go to the Wii long before it was clear that the Wii was going to be, at least for now, the best-selling platform,"

Oh, and the JRPG fanbase will continually grow on PS3 now. FF13 and ToV (along with ToG underperforming on the much larger userbase) has shown PS3 is the home console now for JRPG's. We will see many, many more JRPG's announced for PS3 now...

Epic Mickey was planned for the HD consoles at first then they moved it to the Wii later on. Now that the Wii is much bigger what do you think Disney will want?

The JRPG fanbase will grow on the Wii too, not seeing your point. But KH isn't bought by typical JRPG fans otherwise it wouldn't have the legs it has in America. In Japan that's a different story but DQ X will release before KH3 anyway.

The point is he moved it to the Wii (before Wii popularity took over) because it is primarily a Disney game, and it wouldn't have sold as well among the GTA's, Halo's, CoD's... Etc. Whereas a game with Final Fantasy characters too could easily hold it's own among the big blockbusters on PS3/360.

Yes it will, but from now until DQX releases, PS3 will be seen as the console to go to for JRPG releases. Just look at all the ones it has lined up already for 2010.

It is still bought by JRPG fans. And even though i was arguing against this earlier, PS360 is more likely than Wii exclusive if we are talking about NA sales.

The FF advantage would help if the game was primarily bought by FF fans which it isn't. They've neglected FF characters as of late too. 358/2 Days only has a Moogle and so far in BBS only Zack has been revealed. If the game was really being bought by tons and tons of FF fans, they wouldn't have done this. Hell they barely show FF characters in the commercials.

Have you even played KH? KH is a lot more lighthearted than GTA, Halo, CoD, or FF...

PS3/360 NA advantage would help if both of them had a big enough Disney fanbase. But Epic Mickey is still Wii exclusive despite the game obviously being targeted at American audiences since that's the largest, msot popular Disney region and where KH sells the most too.

The FF fans will see the FF character/s, and will be interested. You cannot deny that. And it is not bought by "tons" of FF fans... But they share part of the same fanbase, it is a Square Enix game... And people follow them as a religion.

I never said it wasn't. You took that out of context. What i meant was, Epic Mickey is a Disney game. That's it. You are Mickey Mouse with an art set... In KH it is an A/JRPG game with Disney and FF, which also sports the SE name. Which i believe can hold it's own against the big "hardcore" games.

It's not just the Disney fanbase that's needed. An RPG fanbase is needed too, which the Wii just doesn't have (in NA) as far as i've seen... As for the "most popular region" stuff, as was already pointed out earlier... SO4 and TLR were 360 "exclusives" in Japan. Things don't always go the "business" way.
