Because the RPG fanbase on DS was established long ago before DQ IX was released?

That may be true. If that is the case, then why do we expect the Wii to suddenly get an RPG fanbase after DQX? It seems that I keep seeing excuses for a particular user base thats not in Japan on the Wii right now, despite the fact there are 9 million users of the console.

The fact is, the Wii has as much of an RPG fanbase as it will ever have, with or without Dragon Quest X. That is why I've advocated DQX on the DS as we know the DS has a proven track record with mega-RPGs, while the Wii has seen mixed success, at best. The only two valid RPG systems this gen have been the PSP and the DS, with the PS3 a distant 3rd.

The Wii hasn't gotten any major RPGs as the DS even before DQ IX. Also, some games simply won't sell well. You pointed out FF Gaiden but no one wants old school FF. That's not a good example. With Tales the series, as Arius put it, it's like GH and its sales are basically limited to 200-300k regardless of platform.

DQ X won't be on the DS. DQ X is expected to be in late 2011? Sometime 2012 latest? The DS is going to be replaced by then, many people are predicting next year at least in Japan. A new Tales game from Team Destiny is going to be in 2011 too.

Are you forgetting that MH3 is on its way to 1 mil? DQ X should be able to do 3 mil+ on the Wii. You're also forgetting Iwata was there when DQ X was announced meaning there was a deal there. And possible sales not made up on the Wii in Japan will be made up in the West.

O_o

Yet over a million bought the Final Fantasy III remake on DS. And it was a crappy remake!
