You can't simply build a "hardcore" console with a "mature" image and then slap on some peripheral made in semi desperation and think it'll reel in folks who belong to another market segment entirely. Naive at best, costly mistake at worst.
And unless there are some serious developers making some serious software to make this technology shine, there will be little to no incentive for the typical PS3 gamer to own this.

Like I've said for a year or so though, Sony and Microsoft are in a damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario and have been for some time. Don't release motion controls and be silly (at least according to the users in here) or release it and be silly because it'll never work (which is what we're seeing now).
