I disagree with Uncharted stopping after three iterations.
Look at R&C. EIGHT games. EIGHT! With that sort of universe, you can really move onto anything, and if you're running out of ideas, you can always say "HE WASN'T DEAD JUST ON A METEOR" and everything's fine.
Gears, yes. Alien invasions have to end, and COG was formed to protect the Earth. That can't go on very long. But Uncharted has an endless supply of mythological artifacts to choose from. Thousands of years of history from dozens of different cultures. And then there's how he actually met Eddy Raja, which Eye of Indra annoyingly didn't explain.
