I already understood that >_< but I never heard of a PS3 controller crapping out permanently and wanyed to know if it ever happened to anyone.

All rechargeable batteries slowly die. But it takes a LONG, LONG time. I believe the guy at the store said 15 years' worth of charges before the battery becomes too weak to use. And that's charging every day.

Also, it's not welded on, it's screwed on. You could buy a new battery and put it in. Or just buy a new controller. I'm pretty sure one controller costs less than 15 years' worth of batteries.
