Exactly. The last 2 gens, Nintendo focused on graphics and trying to coax support from third parties. Instead, third parties left in droves to other systems as if they were conciously trying to alienate themselves from Nintendo, even when Nintendo built systems focused on graphics.
In other words, the Wii was built on Nintendo's ongoing understanding that better graphics and more money doesn't gain support.
