If Suda's statements about this being a test of the HD consoles are accurate (give me a moment to luxuriate in the turnabout...mmmmmmmm..... okay I'm good) they'd be foolish not to release it in Japan. I'd say it'd make for a fine lab!
But you're right, it's unclear if that's going to happen.
