We already know from the TRU anecdotes that people realise they need to get out there to get a Wii early if they want any chance of finding one at all so it is more than believable that the increase owes a significant percentage to the holiday factor. But ultimately we can agree the increase is 100% due to more units being shipped.

But Sqrl, you're giving examples from the US here and we're talking europe. The situation is different here, the Wii has been in stock since march in most countries and there is no black friday, so holiday season really starts only in december. Of course there is also an effect on sales because of the upcoming holidays, but the software was more important for all consoles this week.
And I want to add that if I had known that ten other people would comment on mrstickball's post, I would not have posted myself. However, when I started writing my post there was no answer, and this post asked for an answer. But people should also realise when someone had enough.
