We just have to wait and we will see what happens its all speculation. There is no evidence that you have to be the leader to survive 10years or more. Maybe just Sony Consoles can live 10 years maybe it has nothing to do with the leadership. Maybe 60-70 Million Consoles are enough. We had never a case in the past which was even similar to the case today. We have 3 Consoles and the strongest Console didnt even have half of the market. The weakes competitor has more potential sales power then the leader in the 16 bit gen. We just have to wait and we will see.

BTW: PS3>WII Japan again

Well PS3 reaching 60 million is no sure thing, as its trailing the PSP in sales, and the PSP has been on the market for about five years and still hasn't reached 60 million.

Also part of the problem of not being the market leader that results in why consoles don't survive, is because Consoles that aren't the market leader don't see support after the next gen is released, PS3 sees software support because third parties spread across the 360 and PS3, with multiplats, like Modern Warfare 2, once the next gen starts, the PS3 won't see the support of those games, unless the 360 also survives.

I actually metioned that PS3 would likely lead Wii until late november or early december, once NSMB Wii launches, that will change, fast, not to mention, FF13 will sell less than 2 million in Japan, so PS3 won't have as big a Holiday Boost as Wii will have

WOW............. your joking right.......... were would that support go hmmmm PC? Becasue it damn sure aint going to nintendo, nintendo wii is the only game console in HISTORY to be market share leader and have next to no 3rd party support. Last gen, you were a fool to not have your game on ps2, and the same for the ps1, and super nintendo, and nes, but not to put great games on wii...... is perfectly ok. If the 360 was to vanish next gen all that would happen is all the 3rd party support it saw would go to PS, and all its support form its commmunity would go to PS. You can't truly think a real gamer would op for a nintendo console over sony console if nintendo and sony were all to choose from, and they had to choose 1.

I was refraining from joining this but.....

The (gaming development) support he is talking about is going to be shifted to the new consoles and they will probably offset this risk by continuing some development on whatever current gen console it makes the most sense to continue to support.  If MS make the earliest exit to this generation then developers are going to have to choose to continue supporting either the PS3 or the Wii, I know where I'd be putting my money. On the other hand if Nintendo is first out of this generation then there would be twice as much incentive for developers to continue to develop for the HD console while shifting some resources to the new Nintendo console.

Although it may never gain the stellar support of the PS2 at it's peak I would expect that developers are not going to make the mistake (again) of assuming the new Nintendo console will be a non-factor and it should get decent support from the outset as long as there isn't a yawning technical gap between it and what Sony and MS bring to the table. I don't think that is going to be anywhere near as much of an issue next gen as it was this one.
