If the Wii had failed wouldn't Nintendo move strictly to handheld systems. We won't see Zelda or Mario on the hd twins but exclusively on the ds. With the ds install base they wouldn't need to move their IPs to the hd systems because people wounldn't pass on a ds zelda titles because there wouldn't be any flagship titles to wait for.
I don't like that idea at all.
