I never owned a Super Nintendo when it was new. I played SNES games at friends houses, and got one quite recently to build a library of my own.
My first MegaDrive only had sports games, since I got it used after they had stopped selling MegaDrive games, I assumed that it only had sports games, and reached the conclusion that Sega sucks because all they have is sports games (and I hate sports games). Only later did I rediscover the MegaDrive and find out that Sega made Sonic.
First time I owned Sonic CD was on PC and not MegaCD, and it was a demo.
I suck at Super Mario 64
After I had just recently gotten a N64 as a kid, I proclaimed the Super Nintendo to be a piece of garbage since it was 2D.
When a friend asked me if he should sell his old SNES, I told him to sell it since it was worthless.
What can I say, I was a kid, I didn't know better :(
